Purchasing a Puppy...
Let's face it, all puppies are cute! When you choose to commit to expanding your family with a puppy, please take the following into consideration: type of animal, quality of the animal, needs of the animal, ability of the family, commitment to training your new family member, time and the lifestyle of your family (i.e. poodles are not known as terrific hunting dogs, and English Bulldogs don't typically do well in deep water without a life vest), as well as the breeder and breeding circumstances for the new pups. Get to know the puppies and the dogs :)
Labrador Retrievers are strongly built, medium sized, active breed dogs. Typical traits of the Labrador include their friendly outgoing nature, their love of water, their strength as hunting dogs as well as their extreme loyalty paired with the fact that they are strongly human oriented.
With that said, we strive to provide you with the very best and healthiest of puppies and in turn, family addition. It is our goal to provide you (the family) with a loving dog that will be a great pairing with your individual family.
In your search for a puppy, we encourage each potential new family to seek out and meet all of the puppies in your area. With this time spent looking and becomming educated, it is our belief you will find the perfect addition to your family. It is with confidence that we request this of you. There are many puppies out there and this is not a decision to be taken lightly. A new puppy will become part of your family and requires careful consideration, time, love and commitment.
We also encourage new families to visit the animal rescue facilities in your area. There are many fabulous dogs and puppies needing quality homes in these shelters that could also be a perfect addition to your family.
As in most areas, there are people in the North County that breed dogs with little to no understanding of the actual animals and the care they require. These people have a dog or dogs and breed them. Once the puppies are born, proper care is not always provided. Be vigilant, ask questions and trust your instincts! Some of these 'outfits' provide substandard conditions and less than adequate care. You will spend less per dog, but by doing so, you may incur heftier vet bills, and foster an environment where this type of breeding continues. By not purchasing puppies through these outfits, together we can send a clear message: We do not want people inundating the area with Labradors (or other dogs) that have defects, are ill and their only value is based upon how many puppies they produce. Good, quality breeders will breed quality dogs with one another for consistently strong and desireable traits and qualities. It is a common goal of ours, through breeding only quality dogs with one another we can decrease the instances of dogs with hereditary deficits (eyes, hips, etc.). We are happy to recommend many fine breeders in this area.
We wish you all the best in finding your new puppy!
